Chase Your GOALS!

I received the below quote in my in box this morning and thought it was so appropriate to share in relation to not only dog training but to "conditioning":

WANT SOMETHING GREAT? LOOK AT A FIG.

“Nothing important comes into being overnight; even grapes or figs need time to ripen. If you say you that you want a fig now, I will tell you to be patient. First, you must allow the tree to flower, then put forth fruit; then you have to wait until the fruit is ripe. So if the fruit of a fig tree is not brought to maturity instantly or in an hour, how do you expect the human mind to come to fruition, so quickly and easily? Don’t expect it, even if I were to personally tell you it was possible.”

Proper conditioning takes time and FOLLOW THRU many don't understand that and want results NOW! As an athlete myself, I can relate it to running a marathon-give 6 months of "proper training" and most can go from couch to race and cross the finish line injury free-but if "proper" guidelines and follow thru are not followed injuries, bad results and the possibility of being sidelined from training can happen. For those humans that are not currently active but want to be for both themselves and their dog, I thought this was a great example of saying the same thing...Keep Chasing Your Goals!
